Starry Night. That timeless painting by Van Gogh that hangs all fancy-like in New York at the Museum of Modern Art. Slap a little of that inspiration on your pocket knife, eh? These aftermarket Lander knife scales are beauties made from Starry Night G-carta. Each set is different with weaves and bobs that are yours and yours alone. Here's how the material is made:
A cool dude named Greg Hansen has this little garage shop in Nampa, Idaho where he and his crew make micarta. They layer all sorts of fabulous colored fabrics together with resin and pressure, then kick out these exquisite slabs of G-carta. This one is called Starry Night. After Greg has finished his handiwork, the material goes to California to another garage shop where Jeff Halopoff runs his refrigerator sized Haas CNC in Orange County to create these Lander scales. THEN, you buy them from Knafs where we ship them out from our little garage shop to you. This project is totally jimmy-rigged, side hustled, late-nights, early mornings, scrappy American-made-in-the-garage deal. And maybe that's why it's so beautiful. Our Dutchman friend Van Gogh would be proud. Enjoy.
- Made in California, USA
- Machined in small batches by Jeff of Halopoff Designs-- a long-time behind-the-scenes maker in the knife industry
- Starry night G-carta - Made in Nampa, Idaho by Greg Hansen and crew.
Notes: all G-carta scales arrive with a lovely layer of Frog Lube oil on them. It smells like delicious wintergreen and makes the colors pop. If you don't like the oily feeling, just rub it off with a towel and keep moving.
Each set of G-carta may vary a bit. This is normal. If yours don't match the picture exactly, that's a feature, not a bug.
These scales fit the Lander EDC Knife.
