Hi friends!
I hope you’re having an excellent holiday season with family and friends. I’m writing with news of changes at Knafs: we’re closing our physical storefront in Clearfield, Utah to the public on Saturday, December 20 at 6 p.m. That hurts me to type out.
Let me explain:
I love the Knafs storefront dearly. The names on the chalkboard. The patches from friends. The show-and-tell and smiling faces. I say it all the time: no one leaves a knife store without a smile. But. Our brick-and-mortar store has lagged behind the rest of our business, and it’s time to change. We need Keith’s time for manufacturing, and we need the physical space to maintain other parts of our business. It’s time to adapt.
I can already hear the groans and imagine the disappointed emails. I can already see the regulars walking up to the store and finding it closed. I’ve stood in that store more times than any customer (you included, Sarge and Mason!), and I love it deeply. But the thing I love more than that store is employing 10 people and knowing them and their families. My job as an owner of Knafs is to ensure we can keep supporting those employees and families.
So, we’re adapting.
We’ll still be here. We’ll still host occasional on-site events, and we’ll be at knife shows near and far. You can find us online at knafs.com any time of day or night. We lurk the Moon Crew. We post on Instagram and TikTok. Closing the store won’t get rid of us that easy. ;)
Thank you all for your support in the store over the past two years, and thanks for adapting with us. If you want to come and hang out one final time, we will be open on Saturday, December 20 from 10 am - 6 pm.

I cannot express how sad this makes me. Irrationally sad. Why do I care so much? Living in St. Louis, I could only make it to the store once or twice a year. It was my happy place. I understand the decision though. It makes sense. The good thing about the timing of the announcement is that I happen to be in Utah this week and can enjoy one last visit. Merry Christmas!

I am bummed by the announcement but I get it. The location is awkward and honestly with e-commerce the first option for people these days brick and mortar is hard to maintain. I dropped off a knife to sharpen the other day (thanks Austin for squeezing it in) and he told me about this. It’s been fun having a local knife shop like I have a local bike shop. Thanks for giving it two years. Maybe one day it’ll be back. I already miss the ship shape sharpening shop. Keith does a way better job than my WorkSharp. Thanks for all you guys do for us blade geeks!!
