The Company

Knafs is a goofy little company that makes interesting pocket knife schtuff. We're family owned and operated, and we’re launching this wild rocket to glory. We’re a small operation, and everyone does a little bit of everything. There's a healthy dose of "let's figure this thing out together" in our business that requires problem solving and cerebral engagement. We sell our products on Knafs.com, Amazon, and to 50+ dealers across the world.

The Job

Knafs needs a writer. An entertainer. A creator. An educator who loves teaching our customers about pocket knives. The ideal candidate gets tingly toes from writing witty Instagram copy, posting that perfect YouTube short, and putting together engaging carousels that tell a great story. If your party trick is conquering the TikTok algorithm, then we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

Essential Skills

  • Dependable: 90% of success is just showing up. But the other 10% is making magic happen every day. Consistent marketing wizardry required.
  • Scrappy: Can you come up with solutions from elbow grease and basic tools? Thinking outside the box to get it done might be the best course of action.
  • Level Up: Are you up for continuous improvement? How can you continuously improve as a human and make what you do even better?
  • Kind: Must know how to make people’s day on the internet and in person. This might be a fistbump in the shop, an encouraging word to the team, or a quick DM on socials to a stoked follower.
  • Humble: We’re a small operation. We all do our jobs… and maybe, once in a blue moon, a little bit of somebody else's too.

Additional Skills:

  • Knives: Must know pocket knives or be committed to becoming a fast expert.
  • Social Media (duh): Do you have a solid grasp on all/most of the major platforms and what it takes to make great content for each of them? Can you create interesting and engaging content with original or recycled assets?
  • Content Strategy: You should be able to create your own content calendar.
  • Community Engagement: We have dedicated communities of pocket knife enthusiasts. Are you able to foster these communities in interesting and exciting ways? Think witty comments, website scavenger hunts, quirky giveaways, and exclusive merch.
  • Coordination: Can you work with the marketing team to integrate social media into larger marketing campaigns for product launches, Kickstarter campaigns, sales, and promotions?
  • Copywriting: You should know how to write clearly, with a healthy dose of education, expertise, and a pinch of goofy. Accuracy is important. Typos are a no no.
  • Analytics: Understand how to make, measure, and decide via data.
  • Photo and Video Skills: Can you use Photoshop, CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, etc? You don’t need to be a master, but you should know the basics of photo and video manipulation and formatting.
  • Are you a human?: Can you click all of the boxes that contain a stoplight, even though one of the boxes only has like… 3 pixels worth of stoplight?

Education:

A degree in communications, marketing, or advertising would be epic! We’ll even take washed up broadcast and film majors with the right skillz. Degrees from the school of hard knocks are also perfectly acceptable. If you have the hustle, we want to hear from you. You need to have a high school diploma or G.E.D.

Notes:

This is an on-site position in Clearfield, Utah. Neil Armstrong didn’t walk on the Moon remotely. Boots on the ground means physically present to handle knives, talk shop, glean insights, and make it happen. That being said, we are flexible and are willing to work with your schedule. Life happens.

Are we asking for a lot here for a specialist position? Yes. Yes, we are. Do you have to have all the skills and qualifications to apply? Nope. If you’ve got a few solid skills and you’re willing to learn, we’re willing to teach.

Benefits:

  • Employee discounts on everything we make.
  • 401k benefits after 6 months of employment.
  • Education: we believe in teaching and learning. Sure, we need a job done. But we love to help our people understand the end-to-end process and how they fit into what we’re doing here.
  • Growth: Knafs is on a wild growth pattern right now. We’re seeing cool things happen, and we need people who are willing to grow with us. We can’t promise you the moon, but that’s where we’re headed.
