Material: Nylon PA12

These scales are additively manufactured on an HP MJF 580. This is NOT a consumer grade desktop 3D printer like you have probably seen most often. This is a powder bed fusion industrial machine that produces high quality parts in engineering grade polymer with near invisible layer lines and in full color too! With these machines, we are a part of a colorful future of bespoke manufacturing.

PA12 is a durable nylon that has low water absorption. Nylon is also the base material in FRN (Fiber reinforced Nylon). Durability is similar to FRN but not quite as stiff without the fiber reinforcement. It won’t shatter but it may scuff or dent over time with very heavy use.
