The Yuti is a utility knife with replaceable blades that are easy to swap out on the jobsite. This has launched on Kickstarter and will be available to the general public in Fall of 2026.

THE Black Yuti Utility Knife

The Yuti is built for the trades-- the folks who want a pocket-friendly tool and aren't afraid of a hard day's work. It's slim and comfortable to carry everyday, but rugged and substantial enough to do some real hard work. Hate dealing with dull knives? Slot in a 15 cent replacement and move on with your life. Break a blade tip while you’re elbow-deep in a tough job? Just grab another one and keep on truckin! It's for the trades: the sparky and the foreman, the gophers and grunts, the weekend warriors who definitely should have gotten a permit to do that much DIY.

This one was pretty different for us. All of us here at Knafs spend a lot more time typing at our desks than swinging a hammer at the jobsite. Because of that, we enlisted the help of our friend Zack, a general contractor (and Ben's neighbor) who helped us with the R&D on this project. He gets his hands dirty and carries a chunky boi utility blade in his pocket every day. Zack was the perfect test subject for the Yuti. It was a brutal back and forth, with several prototypes, but in the end we got the thumbs up from Zack.

Replaceable Blades

The Yuti keeps things simple, tough, and ready to work, so you can spend less time maintaining your knife and more time using it. We landed on a T8/Thumbscrew combo for the blade holder. If you want easy, tool-less blade changes, hand tight will do. Want to get a little rough? Get a T8 driver and tighten that sucker down! Blade breaks mid-job? Replace it with a 15 cent blade and keep on truckin'!

The Design

The design story of the Yuti is not a romantic one. We wanted a knife that was easy to carry, comfy in hand for long periods of use, and tough enough to do some dirty work. We landed on a utility knife with a crossbar lock, finger choil, and a deep carry reversible pocket clip. Let's talk about the finger choil (is it a finger choil?). While it may not look like a traditional choil, it's plenty comfy and gives this knife a full grip for the dudes with meat paws. We chamfered the edges for comfy all day use and also made sure to put some jimping on top so your digits stay put.

Make it Fun

Just because you work blue collar doesn’t mean you can’t have fun. We firmly believe almost everything is better with Space Kitties. So if you want Sfank and Gary tagging along on your next project—or you just really love brown trout—grab one of the UV-printed models.
